Reviving Heritage with Madame Áo Dài

In 2019, when Huy Võ decided to return to the fashion industry, he posed a profound question:

“Why don’t Vietnamese people embrace Vietnamese silk?”

This marked the beginning of his journey to explore traditional weaving villages across Vietnam, not only in search of solutions for the craft, communities, and the industry but also to create the "Contemporary Heritage" collection—a harmonious fusion of tradition and modernity, with its genesis being the iconic Madame Áo Dài.

Since 2017, Vietnamese silk in particular, and high-quality Vietnamese products in general, have gradually lost consumer trust, often being undervalued for their quality and increasingly overlooked. As Huy Võ delved deeper into the dedication of artisans—generational inheritors of Vietnam’s premium textile craftsmanship—he realized the urgency of preserving these traditions while addressing the challenges they face as their market share continues to dwindle.

With his expertise in high fashion, Huy Võ recognized a long-standing mission: to redefine personal responsibility and build an innovative brand that embodies the quintessence of Vietnam, while embracing a global vision of "Made in Vietnam & Made by Vietnam". Through extensive research for the "Contemporary Heritage" collection, he experimented with precise tailoring techniques to modernize the traditional áo dài, transitioning from loose fits to structured, elegant silhouettes. These designs celebrate the refined beauty of women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. Each year, the collection evolves based on customer experiences and is crafted by skilled artisans whom Huy Võ regards as family. This legacy underscores the timeless beauty of tradition passed down through generations.

Madame Áo Dài has established a new standard of elegance, rekindling demand for premium textiles from Vietnam. This humanitarian mission not only benefits artisans directly but also contributes to the revival of traditional craft villages. Yet, Huy Võ acknowledges that this is only the beginning. He extends heartfelt gratitude to a discerning market whose feedback has helped shape "Contemporary Heritage" into a more refined symbol. Guided by the philosophy of “slow but steady”, Huy Võ seeks to deeply embed the values of authenticity and timelessness into every creation.

The 2025 Palette & Spring Awakening Motif

After five years of dedication to rediscovering lost motifs and collaborating with artisans, Huy Võ introduces the 2025 Palette, inspired by Vietnamese art during the Indochine period. This collection draws from masterpieces such as "Two Vietnamese Girls" by Joseph Inguimberty (1896–1971), which encapsulates the serenity of life and reflects his deep connection with Vietnamese culture and traditions. In contrast, Nguyễn Gia Trí’s (1908–1993) "Landscape" revolutionizes traditional lacquer art by merging conventional techniques with new materials and Western compositional principles. One of his notable works is exhibited at the Quang San Art Museum.

A serendipitous encounter also allowed Huy Võ to experience "The Encounter of Grace" by Trần Phúc Duyên (1923–1993), a masterful fusion of Eastern and Western techniques, themes, and philosophies. These works directly inspired the “Spring Awakening” motif, symbolizing not only the arrival of spring but also a fresh, transformative beginning.

The 2025 Palette transports us to the prime of spring, as nature awakens to showcase its vibrant beauty. Fresh fragrances blend with subdued hues, replacing the faded tones of winter with the addition of serene, contemplative colors.

Symbolically, Madame Áo Dài evokes timeless elegance and sophistication, deeply resonating with the Vietnamese spirit worldwide. Each piece from the Contemporary Heritage collection is a harmonious blend of materials from five distinct regions, representing the five elements of the five-pointed star - "Ngũ Luân" in Confucianism: Kindness, Ritual, Integrity, Wisdom, and Faith.

These values seamlessly intertwine with Huy Võ’s vision of sustainable luxury. Bestowing refinement, preserving identity.
