Highlands Coffee built an international standard roasting factory in Vietnam
Cao Nguyen Coffee Factory Joint Stock Company organizes the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Cao Nguyen Coffee Roasting Factory on October 6th at Phu My II Industrial Zone, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.
International standard roasting factory
With the aim to enhance production capacity and demonstrate the company's dedication and core values, Highlands Coffee has invested nearly VND500 billion to construct a coffee roasting factory at Phu My II Industrial Zone, a key economic zone in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province. Covering an area of up to 24,000 square meters, the factory could produce nearly 10,000 tons of coffee per year in its initial phase and up to 75,000 tons of coffee per year in the following phases.
This will be the leading large-scale coffee roasting factory in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province as well as in Vietnam. The factory is invested with a modern and integrated production line, following the standards of the FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, and HACCP food safety systems. It adopts the Lean manufacturing and 6 sigma quality improvement model to achieve high efficiency, minimize costs, and save time.
With these world-class technologies, Highlands Coffee asserts its pioneering position in the field of producing Vietnamese roasted and ground coffee that meets global standards. At the same time, this is also a strategic step for the brand to compete directly with global coffee brands.
Strict environmental requirements apply
Notably, the new factory will be constructed with strict environmental protection requirements, aiming to achieve Gold LEED Certification for "green architecture" according to international standards and BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification for ensuring food safety in the machinery chain and wastewater treatment in compliance with governmental regulations, guaranteeing hygiene and safety for the environment and humans. Solar energy equipment using Japanese and Swiss technology will be installed at the factory to minimize costs and reduce the national power grid load. Furthermore, it is one of the major plants in Vietnam participating in the sustainable coffee project from harvesting to final products (Global Coffee Platform).
“This is the passion and core value of our entire company. We aspire to inspire our Highlands Coffee employees and customers in a complete way. Therefore, in addition to the factory, we will also establish a training center and a museum showcasing the history of coffee development in Vietnam and the world”, said Mr. David Thai, Founder and CEO of Highlands Coffee.
As one of the key projects in Highlands Coffee's development strategy for the next 5 years, the Cao Nguyen Coffee Roasting Factory in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province is envisioned to become the largest coffee roasting and grinding factory in the central highlands and a significant facility in the region.
