Ftok - Journey To “Tracefight” To Dialogue With Kimmese's Introspection

“FTOK" represents a significant milestone in the return of the new Kimmese. In this step, she wholeheartedly embraces her earlier self and her past as she embarks on her musical and life journey. Her deep introspection and contemplation serve as the foundation for this EP, offering a vivid portrayal of her life experiences before the pandemic through her music.

Before the “pandemic season”, the human race was living in a much more peaceful world. When a global catastrophe comes, humanity is separated, becoming prisoners in their home and mind, facing dangerous epidemics and impending death. But thanks for that time for giving people the opportunity to reflect on themselves, develop their souls, feel the rhythm of life and the beauty around them. Leaving behind all the negative causes, the citizens of this beautiful planet will never give up their will to live and stop spreading love to the mighty universe, like flowers that still radiate fragrance and beauty for life no matter what happens.

“FTOK" represents a significant milestone in the comeback of the “new Kimmese”. In this step, she wholeheartedly embraces her earlier self and her past as she embarks on her musical and life journey. Her deep introspection and contemplation serve as the foundation for this EP, offering a vivid portrayal of her life experiences before the pandemic through her music.

The pandemic and the time of social distance have helped Kimmese realize that there is something urging her inside that instead of running away, instead of straining herself to become a "warhorse", she should cherish and remember how things go, accept and be grateful for her old self and the experiences she have gone through, even though they may not be beautiful, imperfect, and even depressed, they are still things that happened and made Kim who she is today.

From those reflections, Kimmese began to appreciate the stories before the pandemic came, her old self, and her creativity after drawing from what she experienced in the past to put into music. She decided to overcome her fear to bring the experiences of “old Kim” to music listeners.

Her deep introspection and reflection are the foundation for this EP, vividly portraying her life experiences before and after the pandemic through her music. From the impulsiveness of a warhorse in "Racing Horse", to the outgoing and open spirit in “B-Ignite”, it seems that the EP will be packed with explosive emotions, but Kimmese decided to lead listeners to multiple layers of emotions. Starting with “Đừng Nhấc Máy Em” (Don't Pick Up My Phone) - a song of cowardice, wanting to run away, completely opposite of the “Racing Horse” spirit. At that moment, she realized that shallow emotion is like a racehorse that makes people unable to live for the present, for expectations. It seems that impulsiveness is the freedom to do what you want, but Kimmese realizes that they are like a golden necklace, tightly wrapped around her neck, limiting her freedom in emotions. And with this EP, Kimmese decided to take off that necklace so she can live and love in every present moment. 

Continuing the journey is "You ain't got my soul" with a deeper emotional layer, allowing Kimmese to dialogue with her pain - the pain of not being understood. With R&B style, Kimmese has brought listeners to her inner space, where emotions are no longer intense, gradually giving way to acceptance to reconcile with their brokenness. Kimmese at that time, was more gentle, accepting the experiences and imperfect aspects of my journey.

Towards the end, Kimmese chose “Yêu Đơn Phương" (Unrequited Love) - the only song written in Vietnamese in this EP, as a way to get closer to her inner self. “Unrequited Love" once again emphasizes the bondage, binding emotions, specifically unrequited love, despite trying but not being reciprocated, and Kimmese kept waiting, tied herself in hopelessness until she realized, it was time, Kimmese I had to let go in exchange for the self-giving of my heart.

The EP will be released at 8:00pm on 6th of December, 2023 all streaming platforms.
